Reflexology and Acupressure | Therapy Miracles

Reflexology and Acupressure | Therapy Miracles

Reflexology and Acupressure

The present day hectic lifestyle, with tight schedules, back  to  back meetings  and  deadlines, often leads to stress, annoying pains  and  aches. A quick option most of us opt for is popping a  pain killer,  hardly  thinking  about  the negative effects  that  it  can  have  on  our  health  in  the  long  run.  Drugs  can  provide  temporary  relief  to  the  body,  but  ancient  therapies  like Acupressure strengthens the  body  from  the  core  by  stimulating  certain  sensitive areas to provide  long  term  relief from ailments  and  pains.  Prevent your body from relying blindly on drugs  and  let it bask in  the wholesome  goodness of Reflexology and Acupressure which is a therapy in complete harmony with nature.

This one  of  the most common yet  intimidating problems that all of us have suffered at some point of time. Although,  in  most cases, headaches  are  mild and disappear on  their own with time, it can wreak havoc on our  health and call for medical attention. The most common type of headache is known as ‘tension headache’ that are caused by prolonged stress, tension and fatigue. Other  related  factors like neck strain  and  prolonged  hours working on the computer are also the culprits.  Acupressure works wonders in providing relaxation and quick relief to the annoying headaches.

I’d  like to share some  go  to  Acupressure  treatments  for  headaches.  It  involves  4  pressure points:

Point 1– This point lies in the flesh between the thumb and the index finger.

Point 2– This point lies in the skin between the 2nd and the 3rd toes.

Point 3– This point is located at the outer tip of the eyebrow.

Point 4– This point is located one thumb-width above the midpoint of the eyebrow.

Apply this wholesome  therapy  instead  of  popping  a  pill and feel your body respond to the nurturing touch of Reflexology.

Massage Therapy | Something You Didn't Know

Massage Therapy

Contrary to popular belief, massage therapy did not descend from Sweden. Massages were implemented as a form of natural healing for injuries, pain, stress and illnesses implemented in the ancient civilization. The earliest written record of therapy dates to circa 2400 BCE, in Egypt followed by the habituation of this form of therapy across the globe in Asia, India, Europe etc. Massage has been used since ancient times to relieve pain and promote healing. There are many different types of massage but most offer similar benefits. Massage is not typically considered a replacement for other types of medical care but can be used along with other methods of treatment to provide the best possible outcomes for patients. According to accredited sources such as Mayo Clinic, a series of massages has the benefits of relieving pain for many people, including those with arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus, back injuries, sports injuries, promotes stable REM cycle for those with stress related insomnia and a myriad of other conditions. Massage relieves pain by reducing muscle tension and also by triggering  the release of endorphins, which is a hormone produced by the central nervous system, released by the pituitary gland. This hormone serves as a form of communication in the brain, blocking pain signals, and in turn giving individuals a slight feeling of euphoria similar to the sensation given off by opioids according to the Florida State Massage Therapy Association. Aside from endorphin release, some individuals claim to experience feelings of caring, comfort and human contact from this form of therapy. Just as in any other form of therapy, there are a few risk factors that individuals should be aware of. Individuals with bleeding disorders, those taking blood-thinning  medications, individuals with fractures, burns and/or healing wounds should receive a clearing from their physician prior to their massage service. Consult with our licensed massage therapist to discuss what type of massage might work best for you and how you might benefit from massage therapy.
